What is Your Idea of a Perfect Day?

Hajra’s been away for a while but she’s back and here today with another fun weekend post! Have you seen her post about the wedding she attended? Perfectly beautiful, Hajra! Let’s talk about a perfect day!

All of us dream of the perfect life. All of us yearn for a perfect day to say the least. But how many of us have the idea of what the perfect day means for us.

As a kid I thought every day was perfect, but then I didn’t have to work for money then! As I grew up I stopped “fantasizing” as one might say. However, one does think from time to time, what the perfect day for me might be like. Will it just be having loads of money, or peace of mind, or a weekend spent like I would want it to?

Now, there is nothing like perfect. But yes, there is something like ideal. Close to perfect I might say.

So, I got thinking what would an ideal day – what a close-to-perfect day might be like?

Here’s how think my “almost perfect” day would be.

It would definitely begin a little later than normal. Yes, I like sleeping and I hate getting up early, so one that begins later than usual with breakfast in bed! I don’t know who is going to make that breakfast but yes, definitely breakfast in bed with the newspaper in hand and hopefully, with all good news.

Obviously, there will be a good book, a great movie – preferably at home; good food and just the right amount of coffee on that day. And yes, all my laundry done on that day.

Money I hear someone saying – well if it is the perfect day, then I am hoping there is a decent amount in the bank and if there isn’t; then come on, it is a perfect day and I am not worrying! Peace of mind – well yes that is why I got up late and I am not worried about money. Happiness is what I feel is a state of mind and if I am getting up late, having good food and all my likes all around then I feel I am happy.

But I wonder; there might have so many perfect days and perfect moments; but we might have missed it because we were thinking of actually having a planned perfect day.

Yes, my perfect day always has to end with ice cream!

Have you thought about such a day? What constitutes your ideal day? What does your perfect day look like?

Oh, Hajra, so sorry to have missed your post at Lori's - I was in England at that time, attending this workshop about food writing and photography, perfect days, well except for my poor health.

This post is so much YOU, I love it!

My perfect day would be an amalgam of phantasy and perfect days past: getting up early (something I would never have dreamt of in my younger years) and taking my dog for a walk on the beach, watching the sun rise (yes, it is that early!), enjoying a large and lengthy breakfast outside. Reading a fascinating novel or some biography (still have Steve Jobs waiting for me), meet with friends for lunch, do some creative writing in the afternoon (with no deadline or other strings attached), cook dinner for friends, followed by endless discussions, shared adventures and laughter.

What a perfect day!

@Late_Bloomers Better late than never! I am so glad you could come by. I do hope you are feeling all better now!

I love writing for LFI; I get to indulge in a different kind of writing and the readers are so awesome to appreciate it always! :)

I am too much of a sleeper to get up early. But yes, on the days I have managed to get up even before the sun rises, I have loved the sunshine. But your idea of a perfect day seems absolutely lovely. I love how you balance out your likes and loves and still manage to chalk out the best things life has to offer.

Thanks so much for stopping by! Hope you are well!

 @Hajra  Hi Hajra,

You get an extra cookie for being so gallant! And yes, thank you, I am feeling much better, if only summer would come back.

Tell you what: I used to be a late sleeper as well but life takes its toll! And why not enjoy the good things from rising early instead of complaining?

Have a great week!

@Late_Bloomers I like baking cakes; but I feel living in the hot area for too long and I just can't take myself baking anymore!

Rain...what is that? ;)

@Hajra  I love baking: cookies, cakes and myself. No, summer has not even started yet but the weather is very unpredictable and for the last 10 days lots of rain.

Just you wait ...

I am hoping to become an early riser; let's see!

Lovely reflections Hajra!

I encourage creative visualization with my clients to "live" that perfect day now - over and over again in as many different forms as possible.

Even if "living it out" means in your mind for just a few moments every day, the mind doesn't know the difference and will relish it all the same.

I encourage them to close their eyes and really tap into the underlying experience and feelings rather than "plan out the day."

For you it sounds like you crave peace and calm - and I'm definitely in that same boat! For others it might start with doing something creative, then ending with a connection with friends. Whatever it is, the beauty of experiencing that feeling as often as possible really aligns our energy to the surprises the universe will bring which are above and beyond anything we could have imagined.

@Sabrina at MyMiBoSo That sounds interesting Sabrina! Do you mean something like lying in bed and visualizing the feelings of a perfect day before rising? That would set your day off right. Too often we lay there solving the problems of the day (or is that just me

:o ) I know I start my morning with a number of bounces on the Rebounder and it really gets me "jumping for joy"! When I do it right, I start my day very well after that!

@Lori I usually do it mid-day but I LOVE your idea to start your day with the visualization and intention to really kick-it off right! I love your rebounder start too - really get the juices flowing in a literal sense and start off right in your body!

I just got back from my perfect day.  An overnight at the cabin with gorgeous weather, a good mystery to read, a fun walk with the dog, good snacks to munch on, sitting by the creek, sleeping as long as I wanted, coming home relaxed and refreshed.

Hajra
Hajra

@galenpearl That sums it all very beautifully. I love sleeping and with no one or nothing to wake me up; I will get up as and when my eyes open! :)

The after effects of a perfect day is probably one of the best feelings there is to be! Thanks for stopping by and sharing your perfect day with us!

Hello Hajra, my good friend Brenda introduced me to this blog site.  I eagerly opened the link to see what is this all about...I was pleased to read the individual sharing and LOVE the idea on how it brings people together!!

Well, my idea of a perfect day....as I am in a major transition in this season of my living....my heart & will are being transformed daily!! lol so I am left to share something that I look forward in experiencing as major areas of my life are settled again :)

My perfect day would start early morning, waking up to sun peeking through my bedroom window...clear blue skies would call for a walk on the beach, feeling the coolness of the morning air...hearing the roaring of the waves and looking out into the distance as the peace of this place soothes my soul....it would be nice to have someone join me for company as these recent days have been very alone, not necessarily to talk but just to share space together and warmness of heart....after my walk, having gotten my exercise in, I would love to catch up around the apartment as I keep it clean & neat always ready for company as I love inviting people over and being a hostess!! Then I would love to get a surprise phone call and make plans for the evening....in the interium, reading a good book.....enjoying my own personal space, bills paid and a knowing that  I am loved & appreciated :)

Well that would be a perfect day!

Paula ~

@paulaBabes Hi Paula! Welcome to Life, for instance! I love your perfect day. You live on a beach? I'm envious! This sounds so poetic: '"looking out into the distance as the peace of this place soothes my soul." Your whole perfect day sounds poetic!

I hope you won't be a stranger here! Pop around and meet the other people here. We encourage interaction among those gathered at LFI - by "liking" comments and replying to them ;-)

I hope this day is another perfect day for you!

@paulaBabes Hey Paula! So glad to have you here!

The weather is a prerequisite for many of us on a "perfect day"; we all do want clear blue skies! Loneliness can get difficult and it is truly nice to have someone to be around and share your day with. A friend, spouse, sibling, parents, just anyone who you really care for and who treats you just as well in return!

Reading a book is always like the best part of any day! I am such a reading addict and though I can't read much these days; I am trying my best!

I hope things gets better for you soon! So nice to have you here! See you again!

Right now I am thinking that waking up healthy and alive in the morning is my idea of a perfect day. Of course, quickly followed by my strong cup of filter coffee with very little sugar.  That sets the tone for each perfect day in my life. Thanks, Hajra, Lori - ;-) I'm going to get my Vidur to answer this question today and file it.

Hajra
Hajra

@Vidya Sury Hey Vidya! Beautiful response as always! Waking up healthy does make all the difference and what better than to follow it with caffeine. I love that you start the day on such a beautiful note!

@Vidya Sury That's a perfect start to a day Vidya! I'd add "waking up on a sunny Sunday morning with all the blossoms out in full with husband and children sleeping and anticipating a  day trip with the four of us together." Guess I'd better go make breakfast - and the sandwiches! Have a great day everyone!

Hajra, I think about my perfect day often.  Of course my perfect day would require the perfect location.  It would be in a mountainous region or at least a hilly location with a beautiful lake.  It would be so isolated where one could not hear the commotion of human traffic such as cars or trains.  I could only hear the wind softly whistling through the hills and trees.   My day would be peaceful and relaxing and at least enough work to keep me from getting bored.   I would end the day with a nice bon fire and a hot coffee.

Thanks for the Post.

Hajra
Hajra

@JimK I never bothered about the locations; thanks for bringing that in the conversation! But I don't know why I can never think of work on my perfect day, not even a little bit of it. Maybe reading to cut the boredom, if any; but definitely no work! :) Well, the lazy person in me just needs no work!

Hajra - I had to think long and hard about this one before I realized that my answer was right in front of me!! I'm taking a small break at the moment for  a few weeks in Central America - Costa rica to be exact. The ideal day is what I'm living everyday here. Waking up to gushing waterfalls and vibrant nature, having enough time to to take in the scenery, smells and sights of the place, spending time with good friends, eating delicious organic food and devouring delicious costa rican coffee, taking a swim everyday. It's like living in paradise. Now, if I could just do something about the mosquitoes around here..hmm.....Before coming down here, I was doing a job I absolutely loved which made it perfect in it's own way. Thanks for the post!

Hajra
Hajra

@Vishnu's Virtues Hey Vishnu. I am jealous! LOL! Seems like you are in bliss already! I love being surrounded by good and vibrant nature!

I love how you mention paradise! Like @Lori you are living the perfect day already!

The mosquitoes just are a reminder of there really isn't anything like perfect?

My ideal, or perfect day, is whatever it becomes. Because whatever life throws at me, or whatever I make of that day, it's by choice. And that choice creates the day. And each day, in its own way, is "ideal". Cheers! Kaarina

Hajra
Hajra

@KDillabough You are quite the optimist around! But for me,some days are always better than the other, no matter how hard I try. Ultimately we need to find happiness in what life gives us, but then we just can't help thinking...if only!

Everyone must have had one day that would have been way better than the rest....don't you think? :)

@Hajra "If only" isn't part of my vocabulary:) Even on the (ooohh, I was gonna' swear here, but then I remembered I wasn't over at Bill's place, haha) crummiest days, there's always something to find of value. I'm no Polyanna, believe me: but over time (and with age) I believe that every day in my little corner of the world is a good day. Cheers! Kaarina

This is one of my favourite exercises with clients @Hajra  and it's so cool to see you use it personally!

I ask them to close their eyes and imagine their ideal day, and as they're describing it to see, hear and feel what they want to experience. By the time they've described the whole day they are in such a resourceful, positive state that it's usually effortless for them to come up with an action that would move the vision forward even just a bit.

My ideal day includes coaching in the morning, play time in the afternoon (including writing), yummy food and relaxation with my husband in the evening. Also, dark chocolate :)

Lori
Lori moderator

@Sandi Amorim  @Hajra  "Dark chocolate!" ;-) Do you notice that planning it in advance, or at least being aware of how perfect it is makes you enjoy it even more?

Hajra
Hajra

@Sandi Amorim How could I miss dark chocolate ;) Yummy food is all we need to keep one happy!

This has been very effective with my clients when I was working for a stress clinic. The fact that they visualize it and then learn what they truly wish for and see it as doable is something which has been therapeutic as well as enlightening.

Is there a particular group of clients you find this more effective with?

Sandi Amorim
Sandi Amorim like.author.displayName 1 Like

@Hajra  It often has greater impact with clients who are in transition and not sure of what's next for them. I think the freedom to close their eyes and imagine allows them to say what they want without all the rationalization of what they should or shouldn't do. They are often moved to tears by the end. One of the reasons I love it so much :)

Hajra
Hajra like.author.displayName 1 Like

@Sandi Amorim Visual imagery does have a lot of therapeutic effect. The fact that they "see" that simple things make them happy is also enlightening. Thanks for sharing your experience with us and enlightening us!

Glad to have you stop by!
