Community Building and Soft Skills

Community Building and Soft Skills

At Kalliergo Community Building, we teach people how to build Community. What does this mean; what exactly do we teach them to build?

A Community is an inclusive, authentic, supportive, place of belonging and camaraderie, but there is much more to it than that.

Community is connection – not just proximity.  In the workplace, in the classroom, in our clubs and churches, we have proximity but we often lack authentic Community connection.

A Community is a special set of relationships, a safe space, that mitigates racism, anxiety, isolation, bullying, and power struggles.  The skills acquired in a Kalliergo Community Building program foster inclusion and support; individualism and creativity; independence and teamwork; critical thinking, compassion, and empathy.

It is our mission to spread Community consciousness around the globe.  In our Community Building programs, we teach, model, and practice the soft skills that Community consciousness comprises:

  • communication
  • active listening
  • collaborating
  • consensus
  • critical thinking
  • problem-solving
  • honesty/authenticity
  • teamwork – team building
  • empathy
  • self-awareness
  • leadership

Can you see how important it is that teachers, parents, and leaders in all walks of life acquire the valuable skills and tools of Community Leadership?
