What do You do as the Year Winds Down?
I’m a planner so as the year winds down, I’m already thinking ahead about the year to come. I’m making lists of what I need to do to tie up loose ends, as if the turn of a calendar page requires it. There are goals and Intentions and plans being carefully penned into the first pages of my new journal, recording what I want to do and enjoy in the year just around the corner. I’m getting excited.
I am inspired by the thought of entering a “new” year; laid out in front of me, 356-days ripe with possibility. The new year offers a clean slate on which to design your life. As Melanie Gustafson says: “Whatever your past has been, you have a spotless future.”
I find I’m optimistic and excited like a child beginning school for the first time. Yet I am also pensive as the year winds down. We never know what we’ll see when we look back to today from the other end of this new year. That’s what makes it interesting.
