Challenges: How to Harness the Power

Challenges: How to Harness the Power

“Challenges are what make life interesting;
overcoming them is what makes life meaningful.”
Joshua J. Marine

Do you enjoy a challenge? Did your heart start beating a little bit faster when you read that question? If it did, you, like me, enjoy a challenge! That’s a good thing because life is filled with challenges.

I not only enjoy a challenge, I love that I enjoy a challenge; I count it among my strengths. If you see yourself as someone who loves a challenge, you’re way ahead of the game! Why? Adopting this attitude towards something in your life which you deem a challenge can:

1) muster your problem-solving abilities
2) inspire your determination
3) turn difficult or mundane tasks into something more interesting
4) power-boost your confidence
5) energize you

Often lately I feel daunted when I look at my list of projects or even at my daily “To Do” list but when I isolate one item and recognize that it is a challenge I feel revived, inspired and able to move forward with confidence.

For instance, I’ve just finishing the editing for my first book. The next task is to research the publishing process. There’s so much I don’t know about the art of getting a book published that I don’t even know how much I don’t know. What if I can’t find a publisher who will be willing to take a chance on my manuscript? We’ve all heard the stories of writers who approached a gazillion publishers before finding the one. Can I even do this? Yikes! Is this a challenge?  Yes. That means I can handle it because I love a challenge.

Do you enjoy a challenge? How do you handle life’s challenges? What’s your strategy for approaching something which feels intimidating or overwhelming?
