What Do You Admire in Others?
They say the qualities we admire in others are qualities we have but don’t recognize in ourselves. If this is true, I must be amazing! In my healing work I once listened to a client bemoan the fact she didn’t possess a quality which to me seemed to be one she personified. I’ve seen this outside my healing work too! How is it that people don’t recognize in themselves what to everyone else is so obvious?
Perhaps we only notice the qualities we admire in others when we are comparing ourselves to them. When I think about my wonderful friends and extol their virtues in my mind, I often ask myself why they would want to be hanging around with me! Maybe I don’t see myself so clearly either.
These are some of the qualities I admire in others:
- Competence
- Kindness
- Perceptiveness
- Intelligence
- Good listening skills
- Problem-solving abilities
- Serenity
- A sense of humor
